Our Beginnings
RevoluSun began in 2006 as a solar installation and service company in Honolulu, Hawaii with the mission of spreading the deployment of renewable energy and protecting the environment.
In 2012, RevoluSun (formerly Northeast Solar Services) officially began installing solar systems in Massachusetts. During our first calendar year in business, we completed only a handful of installations. These installations turned out to be the foundation of a credible company with a fantastic network of customers. These installations took place in the outskirts of Boston and along Cape Cod.
In 2013, RevoluSun’s project capacity grew tenfold; we completed significantly more installations than our first year. This momentum continued into 2014, when we nearly doubled project numbers from the year prior. Then, 2015 brought our first New Hampshire installation! This was just one of many installations part of a 21% project increase.
Our growth continued in 2016 as we moved into Western Massachusetts, energizing residents in towns such as Amherst and Wilbraham. We saw growth yet again, completing 74% more projects than the previous year. Then, 2017 topped all previous years with the number of installations as we created a strong presence on the North Shore and Greater Boston areas specifically. Since opening we have successfully spread the good news about solar, and we work everyday with the expectation that 2018 will follow this pattern.
Our RevoluSunaries
We wouldn’t be anywhere today without the help of our RevoluSunaries. Our customers have helped us spread the word about clean energy by referring their neighbors, friends, and family to us. These customers also hold solar open houses showcasing their systems and serve as references of our work to potential customers in their regions. They’ve reviewed us online and shared their solar success stories. We’re thrilled and honored to have dozens of these customers as part of our RevoluSun Family.
Community
Thanks to our terrific customers, we have also hosted several successful Community Appreciation events including one at Rapscallion Brewery in Sturbridge and another at Lookout Farm in Natick, where we hosted a Casino Night for our guests! About a year ago, we completed a commercial solar project at Lookout Farm, which powers their brewing operation. RevoluSun is dedicated to our community and we are continuously looking for ways to keep our customers involved.
Growing Our Expertise
In 2012, RevoluSun only had a handful of employees. Now, our team is made up of approximately 50 dedicated and passionate individuals in a variety of positions. We’ve also grown our expertise. Although solar installations have always been our main focus, we are now working to make the entire home energy efficient with or without solar panels on a customer’s property. We’ve created partnerships with Tesla to offer Powerwall 2, Sense for the Sense Home Energy Monitor, and BlueWave Solar for Community Solar. Check out our blog posts on energy storage and Community Solar.
Recognition
Our success through the years has been recognized by several prominent organizations. Because of our commitment to customer excellence, we’ve earned an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Northshore Home Magazine named RevoluSun the Editor’s and Readers’ Choice in 2016 and 2017. We have also been named a Top 10 Residential Solar Installer in MA by Solar Power World, along with being included in the top 500 installers in the country. We are currently nominated for “Best on The North Shore” by Northshore Magazine for the 3rd year in a row. Click here to vote!
Philanthropy
We have also prioritized our community involvement. With a mission to expand solar throughout the Commonwealth, we’re proud of the communities we work in. RevoluSun recently sponsored the 2018 Pan Mack Ride the River for a Cure supporting The Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
In Summer 2017, RevoluSun held the “Energy Independence Giveaway” and donated a solar energy system to both a deserving homeowner and a nonprofit. After numerous submissions and a public voting process on our website, sisters Alina and Cara of Lynn, MA were deemed the residential winner of our Giveaway. We love giving back to our community, and it was important to us that we select recipients who do, too. Alina currently is a dedicated camp counselor and helps younger girls with school work through lesson plans. Cara works hard in her Church and her community.
The second donated solar array was the Congregational Church of Topsfield. The panels were placed on the Emerson Center, a building that is across the street and owned by the Church. RevoluSun appreciates the Congregational Church of Topsfield’s stewardship of the environment. A series of energy efficiency projects have been accomplished, including energy efficient lighting, insulation, high-efficiency gas boilers and heat pumps. Initiatives to reduce waste, especially Styrofoam, have reduced trash outputs. There’s also a large vegetable garden that produces fresh produce for the Topsfield Food Pantry and the Town’s senior citizens through Haven from Hunger. The location of the solar panels on the Emerson Center demonstrate how to integrate solar panels into a significant structure in a way that does not detract from the historic character of the building.
For this initiative, it was important to us that the recipients contribute to the overall good of their communities. We’re ecstatic that we were able to reduce these RevoluSunaries’ electric bills with clean energy.
