We’re the Best at What We Do
There are a lot of hesitations we see when a homeowner is thinking about going solar. Some of these are old adages, or even just plain false rumors. One of the biggest concerns we hear about everyday is potential damage to a home’s roof. Fortunately, we’re experts with your home. With well over 7,000 installs in Massachusetts, we’ve never had a roof leak. Not once. At RevoluSun, we take pride in taking the best measures to ensure your roof’s longevity. We use an advanced racking system, Unirac SunFrame, which uses 50% less roof penetrations, but still provides superior strength and stability compared to traditional racking systems. This allows us to guarantee our customer’s roof warranties, which is very important to homeowners. The gap-free design of SunFrame allows for a sleek, low profile design of a solar array. Panels are supported in between rails rather than on top of them, creating a more integrated appearance of the panels into the roof. But, regardless of our knowledge and skills as a company, there’s little conversation about the benefits solar panels provide for your roof.
Let’s Protect Your Roof
One benefit of rooftop solar, however, is one that is not mentioned very often: an increased life of your roof. According to a study done by the US Green Building Council, “solar panels also extend the life of a roof, because they protect from the elements, such as rain, snow and debris. They make the house more energy-efficient in the summer because the hot sun is not beating down on the roof directly—it is instead being absorbed by the panels, keeping the house temperature lower.” This benefit gets lost because most people are not in their attic checking the temperature, or up on their roof examining their shingles. However, there is immense value in extending the life of your roof, and everyone knows how AC bills can pile up in those summer months. Having an extra barrier between the elements and your roof is a huge advantage, and there are studies to prove its worth. According to a study done by the University of California San Diego, the average net savings in lower cooling and roof replacement costs is equal to a 5% discount on the system cost over its lifetime. This adds up to thousands of dollars in savings over a system’s lifetime, and it comes at no extra charge.
Transparency is important to us, and to inform you about all of the benefits of going solar, even the ones that are easily forgotten. In these hot summer months, we hope our current customers are happy to know that their rooftop systems are helping keep them cool. And for our potential future customers, we’ll continue to show you why solar is more than just a smart investment.
